The Punch Pizza Legacy

Founded in 2015 by the Romano family, Punch pizza began as a passionate pursuit to bring authentic Neapolitan pizza traditions to Washington DC. Our journey started with a simple belief: that great pizza requires the finest ingredients, time-honored techniques, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

What started as a small neighborhood pizzeria has grown into a beloved destination for pizza enthusiasts who appreciate the art of wood-fired cooking. Our hand-built brick oven, imported directly from Naples, reaches temperatures of over 900°F, creating the perfect environment for our signature thin-crust pizzas.

Our Journey

2015 - The Beginning

Marco and Sofia Romano opened the first Punch pizza location in Washington DC with a vision to bring authentic Neapolitan pizza to the American capital. The wood-fired oven was hand-built by artisans from Naples.

2017 - Recognition

Punch pizza received its first major review from Washington Post food critics, earning praise for authentic techniques and exceptional quality. Local food enthusiasts began recognizing us as the go-to destination for genuine Italian pizza.

2019 - Expansion

Due to overwhelming demand, we expanded our dining room and added an open kitchen concept, allowing guests to watch our pizzaiolos craft each pizza by hand. We also launched our catering services for private events.

2021 - Innovation

Despite challenges, we adapted by introducing online ordering and contactless delivery while maintaining our commitment to quality. We also began sourcing ingredients from local farms to support our community.

2023 - Awards

Punch pizza was awarded "Best Pizza in Washington DC" by DC Metro Magazine and received certification from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, recognizing our authentic Neapolitan pizza-making methods.
